Start wedding planning, from a wedding date, to a guest list and getting inspired, we have you covered.
So, what next?
CELEBRATE & SPEND TIME TOGETHER
Before doing anything, spend some time together. Getting engaged in such massive moment. Cherish it, you just got frickin engaged, so you should be totally celebrating it with your new fiancé, whether thats going out for a romantic dinner, grabbing a picnic and heading off to one of your favourite spots or for a hike it nature. Whatever that celebration may look like for you, thats where you need to start.
SHARING THE NEWS WITH YOUR LOVED ONES
Whether you want to wait a few hours or a few weeks make sure you share it with your nearest and dearest, your absolute favs, the VIPs first. Face timing is the absolute best, if you cannot tell them in person that way you can record or screenshot their reaction.
Once the VIPs are in the loop, you can go public with your just engaged post maybe by sharing a ring selfie or some photos from the proposal for all to admire.
RESIZE AND INSURE YOUR RING
Resize: Unless your fiancé took an absolute wild guess and got your ring size perfect, or you have been in and chosen the ring at an earlier stage, then you are going to need to get your ring resized. Im sure your new sparkly accessory will be hard to part with but take it into the store it was brought from or a trusted jeweller to get it resized and to get it fitting perfectly.
Insure: If this is something you haven’t done already, get it done immediately! It will take all of 10 minutes to get it on your house contents insurance. It doesn’t take long and it is well worth it. You would absolutely kick yourself if it was lost or stolen.
THROW AN ENGAGEMENT PARTY
Only if you want one of course… but if parties are your thing, this doesn’t mean you have to have one straight away. Take your time, start planning and if this is something you need help with, please feel free to get in contact with us, we love a good party!
LET THE WEDDING PLANNING BEGIN
Guest List: An essential start to planning your wedding is to organise your guest list. As tempting as it may be to move straight to the fun stuff during the planning stages, it is wise to have an approximate guest number before booking your vendors - you may immediately see that your wedding guest list needs to be cut down, either to fit your budget, or your wedding venue. Your guest list doesn’t have to be exact at this stage but its a great place to start.
Budget: Weddings cost money, its just a fact! But before you throw your hands up or have a budget breakdown, let me help you... Discuss with your fiancé & determine the 3 most important elements of your wedding -maybe the photos, flowers and signage are really important to you. PERFECT! That means focus your budget heavily on these areas. It also means that spending more on a stunning flower order or beautiful signage order, youll spend less on the cake, and thats okay. Know what matters to you both and spend your money there!
Setting a Date: Some things to consider when choosing a date - Brain storm any dates that are symbolic to you and your fiancé, is there a particular season you want to get married in, does you date fall on a holiday, is your wedding date going to effect your budget? Think about your vendors, maybe theres a wedding venue or photographer that you just absolutely have to have, make sure you confirm their availability on your wedding date before confirming it.
Get inspired - Decide on a wedding theme: Pinterest and Instagram are a must in this part of the planning process. Start a Pinterest board on what you might like your day to look like, start researching vendors in the area you are getting married, look at hashtags on instagram that relate to your wedding style and location.
Finding a Venue: Now that you have a budget and guest list some what sorted, the venue is the next step to getting booked in. Obviously if you’re opting for a backyard wedding, family farm or private residence this is super easy, but if you’re hoping to host your wedding at a venue, this in my opinion is the first to get looked in when wedding planning. Having your style/theme sorted will help with this too.
And Lastly…..
Hire Your Vendors - Lock them in!
Once you’ve decided on what style of wedding you want and your date is locked in, along with your venue it’s so important to start hiring your vendors! Especially if you have your heart set on specific vendors! Wedding vendors tend to book up fast, so it’s vital that you secure your wedding.
